This Mentorship program is an intensive 8 day program and is suited for beginner to intermediate level photographers. It combines photography workshops, private 1 on 1 mentor feedback sessions as well as participation in NGO-related activities in conjunction with Bolivia Digna. Participants embarking on this Mentorship program will visit the offices of Bolivia Digna and participate in community activities across their various project sites. Participants will also have the opportunity to stay in the ancient town of Toro Toro and visit nearby Torotoro National Park during their time on the program, an isolated national park containing over 2,500 dinosaur footprints dating back millions of years as well as fossils, ancient cave paintings, canyons and hidden caves. Tororo National Park is also home to the rare and endangered red-fronted macaw. At the completion of the Mentorship program, participants should have sufficient material to begin putting together a portfolio of NGO-related photography. In addition, participants may be invited to feature their work in the pages of our affiliated humanitarian publication The Travellist magazine.

Sustainability

The NGO Photographers Alliance is excited to be holding a Mentorship program with partner organisation Fundación Bolivia Digna, a NGO that operates in Cochabamba, Bolivia, known as the “City of Eternal Spring” due to its spring-like weather year round. Established in 2006, the organisation’s objective is to promote and defend the rights of infants, children, adolescents, senior citizens and other vulnerable social groups living in exclusion and poverty.

What’s Included

The cost for the Mentorship program includes a complete itinerary consisting of a combination of photography workshops, private 1 on 1 feedback sessions with your mentor, activities carried out in conjunction with the NGO as well as the support and guidance of an experienced photography mentor who will be on hand for the full length of the program. During the days in which participants are involved in NGO activities, participants will be hosted by Fundación Bolivia Digna in shared accommodation. Breakfast and lunch is included during the weekdays and is personally prepared by an on-site chef at the organisation. Dinner can be purchased from the abundance of quality restaurants and food outlets in the city. Alternatively, participants have access to an on-site kitchen if they prefer to cook their own meals and these facilities are open in the evenings. Transport between various project sites are also included in the price as well as entry fees, tour guide, caving equipment and transport to and within the national park.

What’s Not Included

The cost of the Mentorship program do not include costs for airfare,  visas (if required), transport between the airport and NGO site/accommodation, travel and health insurance, personal expenses and spending money, police certificate, tips for the mentor or guides, and/or any other non-itinerary related item.  A certificate for Vaccination against Yellow Fever is also mandatory for Bolivia.
