Located in a traditional, yet vibrant, fishing town called Denia, about an hour south of València; this project is the ultimate experience for volunteers in love with the water! Denia is an area of incredible biodiversity, featuring to natural parks and a marine reserve. Due to increased tourism in the area, conservation has become more important than ever to preserve the natural ecosystems present and the wildlife that inhabit the region. Volunteers participating in Marine Conservation in Spain will be tasked with a wide array of activities while participating in the marine conservation project. Coast & underwater cleaning, aquatic animal monitoring, flora & fauna surveys and flora restoration, and wetland ecosystem support; including removal of invasive species, turtle monitoring, and logistical operations will make up the volunteer’s days. You’ll get one of the most all-encompassing experiences that you can find in marine conservation volunteering in an truly beautiful location.
Sustainability
The Marine Conservation project in Spain focuses on creating a cleaner environment for local sea life through beach cleanups and underwater cleaning (via SCUBA diving). Volunteers also participate in wildlife monitoring (whales, dolphins, and sea birds) and coastal flora & fauna surveys and data collection. They’re also tasked with helping to eradicate invasive species to ensure the preservation of native plants.
